Patti J. Shock is an award-winning Professor and the Director of Distance Learning for the Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Her awards include industry achievement awards from the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), the International Association for Exhibitions & Events (IAEE), the Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Education (CHRIE), and the Allied Industry Leader of the Year from the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association.

In addition she has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the Tradeshow Industry by Tradeshow Week Magazine, one of the 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry by Meeting News Magazine, and one of the 10 Most Powerful Women in the Convention Industry by Successful Meetings Magazine.

She has co-authored five books, including A Meeting Planner’s Guide to Catered Events, On-Premise Catering for Hotels, Convention and Conference Centers & Clubs.

She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on subjects ranging from catering trends to social media. She is also the Academic Consultant for The International School of Hospitality.
